The STAR 14/4 reported that CM Lim of Penang said the public had the right to know how the council's reserves had come down. It was reported that the reserves fell from RM229Mil to just RM25.6mil at the end of 2007.
As rakyat we really wanted to know how the previous local council used up the reserves. Was it necessary? Was it that urgent to spend off the reserves? We wanted to know the truth.
Now that the local council is running out of fund, how could the rakyat expected the Pakatan Penang State Government to get things done in the near future. If no new project can be funded, surely there is nothing the Pakatan Statement Government can do.
So rakyat must realise how the previous management had caused such a difficult situation in Seberang Perai. We must give time for the new state government to gather enough $$$ to get works done. Nevertheless, rakyat has tha right to know the detail of such spending. It must come to the open.
