Monorail Systems for Penang
Penang Island has limited space to fill up with vehicles. It should be an island for beautiful landscape and people to stay, not for vehicles.
Thus the plan for a second bridge should be review with much consideration for healthy and happy residency. However, mass transportation for the public must be taken into serious consideration. Penang is not the first city to face up with transportation problem. Just look at our immediate neighbour---Singapore. Look at Hong Kong and appreciate their transportation system.
What is needed for such monorail system in Penang.
1. Locate two open vacant land space, one on the Island and one on Seberang Perai. These vacant land space will serve as the two main stations.
2. At these two main stations will be monorail interchange systems, bus terminals and taxi terminals.
3. Identify the routes: Airport, Business centres, factory zones, and thickly populated housing schemes, universities and ferry terminal.
4. Suggestion:
(1) Privatise the Project to release State government from financing the project
(2) Contract condition must benefit the rakyat not the business party alone.
(3) Routes to extend up till Sungai Petani Industrial region, Kulim Hitech Park, and Bukit Mertajam, Butterworth, and Seberang Perai Selatan.
