Relaxing the Rules for Hawkers

Penang State Government and may be all the state government run by the opposition parties should look into helping the livelihood of the jobless and low income groups.

One way is to relax the rules controling the self initiated hawker business. May be help to relocate some of them to a more organised hawkers centers.

I came from a very poor family background. My father passed away when all the children were still young and school going. My poor mother had to sell her goren pisang and kueh-kueh at the road side to earn to feed the children. If not for the opportunity of such road side hawker business, we would have been in serious poverty.

Some years back a family tried to sell rojak at the road side but they were chased away by the authority. Their poverty resulted in marriage breakup and children droping out from school.(Bright children with good results.) Thus we see how important it is to help the poor.

Hope the local government conside to relax the rules governing road side hawkers.Instead of chasing them off, help them to relocate if neceesary.
